What is Yoga Therapy

IAYT (The International Association of Yoga Therapists) Definition Yoga therapy is the process of empowering individuals to progress toward improved health and well-being through the application of the teachings and practices of Yoga.

Yoga Therapy: A Personalized Path to Healing

Yoga therapy serves as a complementary approach to healing, aiming to reduce symptoms, improve well-being and ultimately achieve freedom from ailments based on individual conditions. It encompasses a range of intentional techniques such as movement, postures, breathwork, and meditation or visualization, which are utilized to promote both physical and spiritual healing. Distinguishing itself from regular yoga classes, yoga therapy stands out due to its customized approach. Each session is tailored to suit the unique needs of the individual, ensuring that their specific requirements are addressed during the healing process.

Throughout my experience as a Yoga Therapist, I have worked with students suffering from a myriad of conditions, including chronic pain, stress, depression, anxiety, migraines, headaches, back pain, neck pain, sleep apnea, and tinnitus and more. Witnessing and personally feeling enormous improvements in physical, physiological, and emotional health, I firmly believe in the efficacy and healing capability of this practice.

What happens in a Yoga Therapy Session?

If it is the first time we meet, we will go over your intake form, conduct an assessment and discuss your goals and what you want to achieve with yoga therapy. Based on this, I will create a yoga therapy practice for you, which you can take home and practice on your own. This may also include advice on lifestyle and diet. Follow-up sessions are often encouraged to review progress and modify the practice if needed based on progress and/or other developments in your health.
